Šibenik vineyards — Jadrtovac
details
A southern classic. Known for its powerful character, usually rich in tannin and warmth. Notes of red fruit with a light flavor. It brings maturity, spice, and the wild ‘edge’ we love in Plavac — but only when tamed by the right vineyard site, such as the slope in Jadrtovac. Vineyard in Jadrtovac (Šibenik) lies on limestone-rich soil with excellent drainage, giving our wines their signature mineral backbone. Mediterranean climate. This balance of heat and humidity, sun and shade, sea and slope, is what allows native grapes to thrive here. Especially Plavac Mali, which loves heat, wind, and rugged ground. For our Plavac label, we use something different: pressurised 225L wooden barrels. It’s still Slavonian oak, but the inside is a pressurized chamber—an innovative system that allows better oxygen management, deeper integration of tannins, and more control over aging time. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN IN GLASS? A Plavac that’s both structured and smooth, intense but not heavy. The technology helps us shape a wine that keeps its wild Dalmatian spirit but polishes it just enough to let the fruit shine.
